HcBitchney is a grunge/metal/alternative/what ever we decide and feel like! - type of a band from Helsinki, Finland.
HcBitchney was formed in january 2007 by guitarrist Edvard Airikka and singer Tony Deschanel. Those two met on their way to Provinssirock ( A finnish music festival) in june 2006. Both of them had taken the ride from a website and didn't know the driver. Tony arrived at first and waited Edvard with the driver. He was a bit late, and had a guitar. Tony asked Edvard about music and they found out that they had quite similar thoughts on the subject and exchanged phone numbers. They didn't actually meet at the Provinssirock festival, and Tony was quite sure they would never meet again, since Edvard had told her he already had a band, Roomseven.
It was the end of the summer in 2006 when Tony decided to give it a try and called Edvard. She was surprised Edvard actually remembered her and invited her to Roomseven's rehearlsal studio to Konala Jäähalli, Helsinki. After hanging out with the group all fall and the early winter, they decided it's best to form a whole new band with Tony on vocals. Finally Tony had found someone who understood her song-writing and singing skills, and her ideas.
So, Edvard and Tony sat down to write some music. It was the time to open the archives and to create something new. Tony's melodies and lyrics for songs like ' Don't Tell Me ' and ' U.' caught Edvard's attention and they started to work on them. Tony loved the guitars Edvard had composed, and those eventually became the song ' It Takes Ten Minutes To Leave '. Some totally new songs were also composed, like ' I Don't Care For The Fish ' and ' Stuck In The Middle ' for example. It was time to look for new members...
It was March 2007 when Tony found Leo from a very popular finnish web community Irc-galleria, and from the very first time they met, Leo became the bass player for the band. He had missed the bus on his way, and called to cancel the meeting, but gladly Tony was able to convince him to come over anyways! All together Tony, Edvard and Leo arranged the songs and rehearlsed them, and tried to look for a drummer. Couple of drummers visited them at Konala, but some of them thought the music was too hardcore, some of them wanted it to be more hardcore... Most of them already had a band, so HcBitchney was still without a drummer in summer 2007. They decided to write more music and take it easy, besides, the band needed a name! Tony thought the names day and night, and went almost crazy! Edvard suggested ' Natas Dog ', which is a lyric Tony had written. It was almost picked, but then Tony realised, it's ' ND ' like one of her favourite bands, ' No Doubt ', so it wasn't suitable. One of Tony's ideas was ' Metka ' which is finnish and means a mixture of the words ' funny ' and ' wicked'. But as Tony Googled it, she found out it was already used, not on a band name though, but still.
Tony had used ' HcBitchney ' as her nickname on the internet communities for several years, and suddenly she realised, she could never come up with a more suitable name for a band! So, she basically announced the name 'HcBitchney' for the guys and they accepted it immediately.
Finally in September 2007, a couple of days after Tony's 24th birthday, Ali Laissaoui joined HcBitchney. He had replied HcBitchney's add on Muusikoiden.net ( Musicians.net) for a drummer. They rehearlsed the songs and ' Hemorrhoid Heart ' was written during the fall and early winter 2007. It was the time to record a demotape, and they went to studio in january 2008. At the time all the groups that had rehearlsed at our room at Konala, moved to a new rehearlsal studio at Sörnäinen, Helsinki. The demo ' Get Bitch or Try Dying! ' ( the title was Edvard's idea ) was released on myspace.com/hcbitchney and mikseri.net/hcbitchney.
Unfortunately Ali Laissaoui had to leave the band in February 2008, and HcBitchney was again without a drummer... Everything seemed desperate, though they had received good feedback on the three songs ' It Takes Ten Minutes To Leave ' , ' Hemorrhoid Heart ' and ' U.' , which are the songs on the demo. Tony got depressed, and everyone got frustrated. Roomseven also lost their drummer, so Edvard was double-frustrated and pissed off. People were asking when would HcBitchney do their first gig, and it was sad to explain the situation.
Summer 2008 was getting closer, and one of Tony's friends who she didn't know that well, asked her if she could move in, since Tony was looking for a roommate. Pii moved at Tony's place in May 2008, and they had a blast living together. Roomseven's new drummer Jose had been playing drums with HcBitchney, but after he decided to concentrate on Roomseven, Tony asked if Pii would be interested to join the band. Pii is a talented musician, a good singer, guitarrist, drummer and a songwriter. In July 2008 Pii joined HcBitchney and though she had to move away for her school, she is still travelling from Rauma ( a city in Finland ) to the rehearlsals and has been doing well learning our songs, which we have quite a few to learn! ( We could actually release a whole album if we had money or a record deal)
It's nice to have two boys and two girls in a band. The Bitch Boys and The Bitch Babes.

So, here we are, Tony, Edvard, Leo and Pii, the new and cool HcBitchney! We are planning to do our very first gig as soon as possible and to visit studio for a new demo too! Stay tuned!
With love: HcBitchney <3
